Our Focus

The Bexar County Champions for Public Education PAC supports school board candidates who desire to serve their school district in a non-partisan, student-centric manner.  We believe in the importance of local governance and the profound impact of public education on families, taxpayers, higher education, job creation, and economic development.  Our primary goal is to elect members of the Bexar County community who will serve to provide equal access to a quality education to children regardless of their economic situation, zip code, or learning challenges.

Our Why

School board trustees are elected to non-partisan at-large or single member districts within the school district in which they reside.  These unpaid, volunteer public servants are tasked with the important job of making decisions on policies, goals, and budgets that will best benefit the community they serve.

Over the past few years, special interest groups have infiltrated school board elections to push partisan political agendas within these important governing bodies.[1][2]  Instead of being focused on students, these groups are fixated on single-issue national agendas that have little to nothing to do with the duties of a school board trustee.[3]  We cannot have our local school boards be stacked with politicians who are using this important elected office to push their personal political views that are contrary to what is needed for all students.

It is crucial that elected trustees serve their communities collaboratively and in a manner that places the needs of students and teachers first - without the influence of outside interests.

Our Mission

Increase Voter Engagement

Traditionally, turnout for school board elections is 5-7% of registered voters.  We believe a community can only be accurately represented by electing a candidate that is chosen by a larger representation of voters.

Foster Transparency

It is imperative that trustees be good stewards of taxpayer dollars with a constant focus on exemplary programs and services for every campus in their district.

Hold Trustees Accountable

We believe that our elected trustees should commit to their strategic role of adopting policies that serve all students and staff and promise to make their community a better place to learn, live, and work.

Engage Stakeholders

Neighborhood schools impact and are impacted by every aspect in their periphery – businesses, churches, residences, and health care facilities.  We believe that elected trustees should foster relationships with these important taxpayers and organizations to ensure the best learning environment for students.

Focus on Students, Teachers, and Families

The candidates we support will pledge to deliver an educational system that promotes parent/guardian involvement, provide tools to educators that allow them to properly instruct their students, and be flexible and ready to pivot to make decisions that best meet needs in an ever-changing educational environment.
